The Declaration of Internet Freedom ネットの自由を守ろう

Declarationは「宣言」。Internet Freedomは「インターネットの自由」である。7月4日、米国の独立記念日に際し、自由、平等、幸福の追求を人間の天賦の権利として主張した、独立宣言 (the Declaration of Independence) にちなんで、「インターネットの自由宣言」が発せられた。
Today, we—representatives of the New America Foundation’s Open Technology Institute and Free Press—join more than 85 organizations, ranging from Amnesty International and the Electronic Frontier Foundation to Mozilla and Cheezburger Inc., in announcing the Declaration of Internet Freedom.
「今日、われわれ　ニュー・アメリカ財団のオープン・テクノロジー研究所とフリー・プレスの代表は、アムネスティ・インターナショナルとエレクトロニック・フロンティア財団、Mozilla、Cheezburger Incなど85以上の団体とともに「インターネットの自由宣言」を発表する」
Declaration（宣言）
We stand for a free and open Internet.（私たちは自由で開かれたインターネットと支持する）
We support transparent and participatory processes for making Internet policy and the establishment of five basic principles:
（私たちは透明で参加型のインターネットの政策立案と５つの基本的な原則の確立を支持する）
Expression: Don't censor the Internet.（表現の自由：インターネットを検閲させない）
 Access: Promote universal access to fast and affordable networks. （万民のアクセス：早くて費用が安いネットワークに世界中の人間がアクセスできるように推進する）
Openness: Keep the Internet an open network where everyone is free to connect, communicate, write, read, watch, speak, listen, learn, create and innovate.（開放：インターネットをオープンなネットワークとして維持し、そこでは誰もが自由に接続し、通信を行い、書いて、読んで、見て、話し、学んで、創造し、そして革新できる）
Innovation: Protect the freedom to innovate and create without permission. Don't block new technologies, and don't punish innovators for their users' actions.（革新：誰にも許可を得ることなく新たなものを産みだし創造する自由を守る。新たな技術を阻害しない。ユーザーの行為によって革新者が罰せられることがあってはならない）
Privacy: Protect privacy and defend everyone's ability to control how their data and devices are used.（プライバシー：プライバシーを保護する。そして、誰もが自分のデーターやデバイスがどのように使用されるかを管理する能力を保護される）
さて、われわれが、こうしてBlogを書いたり読んだりできるのは、ネットが自由な空間だからである。筆者は、この自由を将来にわたって守り育てていくことが、さらにネットを万民のものとして発展させ、地球的規模の民主主義を実現していくものと信じる。
